Rev. James R. Bailey
(January 16, 1921 - July 23, 2012)
Died Monday, July 23, 2012 at Bristol Manor in Davison , Michigan. He was born January 16, 1921, in Oakvalle, West Virginia, the son of James Earl and Cora Ellen (Hill) Bailey. On June 3, 1941, he married Clara Evelyn Shrader in Bristol, Tennessee and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2005. Rev. Bailey was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army serving during W.W. II where he was captured during the Battle of the Bulge and held as a P.O.W. for three years. After returning home, he moved his family to Michigan to find employment with Fisher Body in Livonia, Michigan where he retired after 30 years of service. Rev. Bailey served as a Pastoral Assistant in the Ypsilanti Apostolic Faith Church in Ypsilanti for over 50 years. Due to illness, he moved to Burton, Michigan, to live with his daughter, Norma Bailey Miller and husband Rev. Larry Miller who survive him. Other survivors include his grandsons: Mark and his wife, Renee Miller and James Miller all of Burton, MI; one great grandson, Nicholas Miller of Burton, MI and Nathan and Emily; Adopted family: Cathy and her husband, Larry Wills; grandchildren: Elizabeth and her husband, Jamison Turpening, Rowyan, Cowin and Nolan Turpening and Brenda Handback. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Jo and three sisters: Mary, Ruby and Alma. Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Janowiak Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Stoner officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or More Life Tabernacle Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
